Modules
Let supporters claim tickets or assign each other, distribute new tickets automatically per category, and show who owns a ticket right in Discord.

Assignment puts a name on every ticket. Supporters claim a ticket with one click or /assign, teams can hand tickets to each other, and each category can distribute new tickets automatically — round-robin, first-in-first-out, or to whoever has the least on their plate. The assignee shows up as a notice in the thread, as a forum tag, in the thread name, and in the dashboard.

Assignment is a module. Turn it on and configure it from Modules → Assignment; activating it costs one feature token. With the module off, Clarify falls back to plain self-claiming with default settings — your configuration and roster stay saved.

How it works

A ticket opens

If its category has a distribution strategy, Clarify picks a supporter from the category's handled groups and assigns them straight away. Otherwise the ticket waits for a claim.

Someone claims it

The Assign button on the ticket card, /assign inside the ticket, or Claim in the dashboard's ticket list. Who may claim follows the category's handled groups; without any, every support role may.

Discord shows the owner

A notice is posted in the thread, the supporter's forum tag is applied, the thread is renamed — whichever markers you switch on below. The assignee gets a DM.

The ticket closes

Assignees are released and their forum tags cleared, so tags stay available for open work.

This page holds the global settings. Which supporters a category draws from and how it picks one is set per category under Settings → Categories → Auto-Assignment — see Categories.

Who assigns?

mode
radio
Who may put a name on a ticket. Default: Self-claim.
  • Self-claim — Supporters claim tickets themselves.
  • Staff assign — Assigner roles may also assign other supporters, with /assign user: or from the dashboard.
assignerRoles
role-select
The roles allowed to assign and unassign other supporters in Staff-assign mode. Empty means any support role may. Discord administrators always may.
maxAssignees
slider
How many supporters may hold one ticket at the same time. Range 1 to 4, default 1. Discord allows five tags on a thread, one of which is the category — hence four.
claimButton
toggle
Show an Assign button next to Close on the ticket card in the staff thread, on the reopen card and on escalation arrival cards. Default: on. The button always claims the ticket for whoever clicks it.

How does it show in Discord?

markers.threadNotice
toggle
Post a short card in the thread on every assign and unassign — "@Alex is now assigned to this ticket". Default: on. Not posted on closed tickets.
markers.supporterTags
toggle
Give each assignee a personal forum tag on the ticket post, so the forum can be filtered by supporter. Default: off. Tags are named after the supporter and carry the emoji set on the roster. Only threads inside a forum can be tagged.
tagBudget
slider
How many of a forum's 20 Discord tags supporter tags may use. Range 1 to 19, default 10. When the budget is full, a tag whose owner has no open assigned ticket is recycled automatically.
markers.threadName
toggle
Append the assignees to the thread name — Billing question • Alex, Sam. Default: off. Discord allows two renames per thread every ten minutes; the suffix is removed when nobody is assigned.

Notifications & lifecycle

notifyAssignee
toggle
Send the assignee a direct message when they are assigned — "You have been assigned to ticket …" with a link. Default: on.
unassignOnClose
toggle
Release every assignee when the ticket closes and remove their forum tags. Default: on. Happens silently, without a notice.

Per-category distribution

Auto-assignment is decided per category, because a billing queue and an abuse queue rarely want the same rule. In Settings → Categories, open a category's Auto-Assignment section:

SettingWhat it does
Distribution strategyOff (manual claiming only), Round-robin (rotate through the group), FIFO (whoever has waited longest is next; returners queue at the back), Least load (the supporter with the fewest open assigned tickets).
Handled groupsThe support roles the strategy draws from, and the roles allowed to claim in this category. Empty means every support role.
Excluded supportersMembers skipped by auto-assignment in this category. They can still claim manually.

Supporters who are marked Away on the roster are skipped as well. Auto-assignment is best-effort: if no candidate is available, the ticket simply waits for a claim.

The roster

The module page lists your support members with two things per person:

  • Available / Away — away supporters are skipped by auto-assignment. Supporters set this themselves with /away hours: (1 to 720 hours) and /away back:true; coming back places them at the end of the FIFO queue.
  • Tag emoji — the emoji of their personal forum tag when supporter tags are on.

Commands

CommandWhoWhat

From the dashboard, Claim and Release in the ticket list act on your own Discord account; the ticket page lists all assignees and lets assigners add or remove supporters.

Escalation

A tier can auto-assign on arrival; claim rights follow the ticket into its new category.
